Obverse description Light blue-green note printed within a double-rule border, with the issuer's name 'STADT MARBURG' set in bold display type across the top. A central oval vignette contains a finely engraved panoramic view of Marburg, with the castle and city skyline rendered in letterpress over a horizontal-line underprint; the large numeral '1' and a bold outline '0' are superimposed over the vignette to form the denomination figure. The legend 'ZEHN MARK' runs in large block capitals along the lower margin, while a circular magenta official seal of the city appears at lower right.

Reverse description The reverse is printed entirely in black on the same light blue-green paper stock and enclosed within a double-rule border. The entire field is occupied by a dense block of decorative display text in a period Jugendstil typeface, setting out the redemption conditions and expiry terms; two cursive manuscript signatures of the Magistrat officials appear near the foot of the text block, followed by the date and place of issue. A partial magenta city seal impression is visible at lower left.
