Reverse description The central design presents a bold intaglio silhouette map of Azerbaijan set against a lighter underprint map of Europe, emphasising the country's geographic position at the crossroads of Eastern Europe and Western Asia. Intricate guilloche underprint patterns in teal and rose tones fill the background, with geometric and floral ornamental motifs at left and right margins. The denomination inscription 'ON MANAT' appears at the bottom centre, with the numeral '10' at upper left and lower right.

Robert Kalina designed this note the same year he completed the euro banknote series for the European Central Bank — a detail that makes the visual continuity between certain Azerbaijani and European issues of the period hard to miss. The commission of OeBS in Vienna reflects a pattern common among newly independent post-Soviet states: lacking established security printing infrastructure, many turned to established European printers during the first decade of rebuilding national currency systems.

The P#27 series was replaced relatively quickly, superseded by revised issues before the decade closed.
