| 裏面の説明 | The central intaglio vignette presents a Basotho horseman in traditional blanket and conical hat standing beside his horse before a field of maize crops, with the Maluti mountain range receding into the background. A guilloche underprint in pale violet and ochre tones extends across the full field, with a scalloped rosette at upper left enclosing the numeral 10. The denomination legend MALOTI A LESHOME is inscribed in bold red letterpress along the lower margin, flanked on each side by the numeral 10. |

Lesotho's currency has been pegged at par to the South African rand since the loti's introduction in 1980, a monetary arrangement formalized under the Common Monetary Area — which means this note, whatever its face value, was always exchangeable rand-for-rand at any South African bank. That peg has never broken.
Dr. L.V. Ketso served as Governor of the Central Bank of Lesotho during a period when the institution was actively modernizing its note series. Thomas De La Rue's involvement dates to the earliest Lesotho issues, making this a long-standing printing relationship rather than a one-off contract.
