| Obverse description | Central field features the crowned Portuguese royal arms, displaying the quartered shield with the five escutcheons of Portugal and the castle bordure of Castile, flanked by elaborate foliate scrollwork. The shield is surmounted by a royal crown of elaborate design. The circular legend reads MARIA·I·E·PETRUS·III·D·G·REGENTES··P·E·D·GUINEÆ· in raised Latin lettering, distributed around the full perimeter of the coin. The overall composition is rendered in a bold, high-relief baroque style typical of late 18th-century Portuguese colonial coinage. |

| Reverse description | The denomination MACUTAS / 10 is inscribed in three lines at the centre of the field, enclosed within a wreath of laurel branches tied with a ribbon bow at the base. Small floral rosette ornaments appear between the denomination lines and at the wreath opening. The date 1783 is placed above the wreath, flanked by floral stops, while the legend AFRICA·PORTUGUEZA· runs around the full circumference in Latin lettering, with the words split on either side of the design. |
