Opmerkingen

Lithuania's 1993 banknote series, of which this 10 Litų note is part, was issued following the country's reintroduction of the Litas in June 1993 — a deliberate break from the transitional Talonas coupons that had served as a buffer currency after independence from the Soviet Union. The Litas had historical weight: it was the interwar currency, and its revival was a conscious act of continuity with the pre-occupation republic.

Thomas De La Rue handled production, as they did for much of the initial series, providing credibility for a currency that needed to establish trust quickly in an economy still finding its footing.
