The lamp features an elaborately decorated backplate surmounted by a Star of David, with intricate foliate and architectural ornamentation, and a chain hanging from the center. Eight oil font cups are arranged along the base of the lamp body, with drip catchers below. A Hebrew legend reading חנוכי מירושלים (Hanukkah lamp from Jerusalem) is inscribed to the left of the lamp, and the inscription המאה ה-י״כ (the 16th century) appears in the exergue below. |

Israel's annual Hanukkah coin series, launched in 1958, was designed from the outset as an educational program as much as a numismatic one — each year's issue highlighting a different diaspora lamp tradition, with the 1977 entry drawing from the collection of the Israel Museum. The three KM variants (91.1, 91.2, 91.3) reflect differing edge treatments produced for circulation, proof, and a third specification, a cataloging distinction that trips up collectors more often than the coins themselves warrant.
