Italian Somaliland's coinage was administered through the Regia Zecca in Rome, and proof or pattern strikes ("prove di stampa") from this colonial series were produced in strictly limited numbers for archival and approval purposes — not for any circulation intent. The 1925 issue for Somaliland coincides with the early consolidation of Italian colonial monetary policy under Fascist administration, when Rome was actively standardizing currency systems across its African territories.
KM#Pr14 is among the rarer pattern designations in the Italian colonial sequence. Fewer than a handful of institutions hold confirmed examples.
