Obverse description Facing bust of Pope Paul VI slightly turned to the left, wearing the papal tiara (triregnum), with arms and vestments visible at the base of the portrait. The legend is divided on either side of the effigy, reading PAVLVS VI P.M. to the left and ANNO VII MCMLXIX to the right, indicating the seventh year of his pontificate. The design is rendered in a naturalistic sculptural style with fine detail on the tiara's ornamental relief.
