Niğde's saat kulesi dates to the late Ottoman period and sits in the city's old market district, though it has been restored and altered enough over the decades that its exact construction date remains a point of local dispute. The 2021 Turkish commemorative silver program drew heavily on provincial architectural subjects — each coin assigned to a different Anatolian city landmark — as part of a broader Darphane initiative to document regional heritage in precious metal.
