| Beschrijving voorzijde | Full-length effigy of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk in military uniform and karakul hat, depicted in a contemplative pose with one hand raised to his chin, striding to the right, as seen at the Battle of Kocatepe. Radiating sunburst lines fill the field behind the figure, creating a dynamic halo effect. The circular legend TÜRKİYE CUMHURİYETİ (Republic of Turkey) runs along the outer rim, interrupted by two raised dots as separators. |

| Aanvullende informatie |
This issue spans the immediate aftermath of the September 1980 military coup, during which the National Security Council suspended parliament and governed by decree. The economic program imposed by the junta — designed in close coordination with the IMF — triggered sharp inflation that eroded purchasing power rapidly enough to make low-denomination coinage a near-constant minting obligation throughout the early 1980s.
The two KM numbers reflect a die variety split between the crescent positioned to the right versus subtle differences in the reverse alignment — collectors working this series should cross-reference Schön#469 carefully, as attributions in dealer stock are frequently conflated.
