Issued to mark the opening of the 1915 Çanakkale Bridge across the Dardanelles, which was inaugurated on March 18, 2022 — the 107th anniversary of the 1915 naval battle that gives the structure its name. At roughly 2,023 meters between the main towers, it was engineered to encode the year of the Turkish Republic's centenary into its span. The plastic middle ring is an unusual material choice for a Turkish commemorative, and one that has drawn collector attention to the coin's long-term preservation behavior under typical storage conditions.
