| Reversbeschreibung | The reverse depicts a dynamic battle scene inspired by medieval manuscript illuminations, showing armored Bulgarian cavalry warriors on horseback charging in formation, with additional foot soldiers and archers engaged in combat. A stylized fortified tower or fortress is rendered in the upper left field, set against a mountainous landscape. The composition conveys the martial power of the medieval Bulgarian state under Khan Krum. The arched legend 'СРЕДНОВЕКОВНИ БЪЛГАРСКИ ВЛАДЕТЕЛИ' (Medieval Bulgarian Rulers) runs along the upper periphery, while '∙ ХАН КРУМ ∙' appears in the lower exergual area. The entire design is framed by a beaded border. |

| Zusätzliche Informationen |
Khan Krum ruled Bulgaria from roughly 803 until his death in 814, presiding over the most aggressive territorial expansion in the First Bulgarian Empire's early history. His defeat of Emperor Nicephorus I at the Battle of Pliska in 811 — where Nicephorus became the first Byzantine emperor killed in battle in over four centuries — ended with Krum reportedly making a drinking cup from the emperor's skull-lined skull, a detail recorded in Byzantine chronicles with unmistakable horror.
This issue belongs to the Bulgarian National Bank's long-running series commemorating medieval rulers. KM#314 was struck at a reported mintage of 7,000 pieces.
