The Bridge near Byala spans the Yantra River in central Bulgaria and was designed by Friedrich Hartmann, a Bohemian engineer, completing construction in 1867 — making it one of the oldest surviving iron bridges in the Balkans. It served as a critical crossing during the Russo-Turkish War of 1877–78 and was declared an architectural monument of national significance in 1984.
