The circular peripheral legend ΚΥΒΕΡΝΗΤΗΣ Ι• Α• ΚΑΠΟΔΙΣΤΡΙΑΣ (Governor I. A. Kapodistrias) runs around the rim, honouring Ioannis Kapodistrias, the first Governor of Greece. The overall design is bold and deeply struck, characteristic of the Aegina Mint's output during the early years of the Greek state. |
