Opmerkingen

Sierra Leone redenominated its currency in 2022, replacing the old Leone at a rate of 1000:1 — meaning this 10 Leone note is equivalent to the former 10,000 Leones denomination. The practical motivation was straightforward: by that point, everyday transactions routinely involved notes in the millions, and the new series was intended to rationalize a currency that had shed roughly 80% of its value against the dollar in the preceding decade.

De La Rue has been the primary supplier for Sierra Leone's notes for many years, making this a continuation of an established relationship rather than a new contract.
