| Obverse description | Intaglio portrait of General José Trinidad Cabañas at right, rendered in fine line engraving against a multicoloured guilloche underprint in pastel tones of salmon, orange, and yellow. The national arms of Honduras appear in an oval vignette at left centre, surrounded by the legend REPUBLICA DE HONDURAS, LIBRE, SOBERANA E INDEPENDIENTE and dated 15 DE SEPTIEMBRE 1821. The denomination numeral 10 is repeated in red at each corner, with DIEZ LEMPIRAS set in ornate letterpress below a large central numeral over a rosette guilloche, and a Mayan glyph security device printed in orange at centre. |
