正面描述 This obverse trial piece displays the bimetallic construction in an unfinished state, with a plain golden-toned central plug set within a copper-colored outer ring, both fields entirely blank and devoid of any struck design or legend. The piece represents the obverse die trial of the commemorative 10 Lei issue honoring the Four Gospels of Hurezi Monastery, which, in its finished form, depicts a fragment of the Resurrection of the Lord icon — specifically the Descent into Hell scene — as rendered on the illuminated ouches of the Hurezi Gospels. The finished obverse bears the Romanian coat of arms, the denomination '10 LEI', the country name 'ROMANIA' in an arced legend, and the year of issue '2013'. As a trial striking, this specimen confirms the bimetallic planchet specification prior to application of the production dies.

附加信息

Hurezi Monastery, founded by Wallachian prince Constantin Brâncoveanu in 1690, houses one of the most significant manuscript collections in Romanian Orthodox heritage — including illuminated gospel books that survived both Ottoman-era instability and later Communist-period neglect. This trial piece, struck to test the bimetallic composition and obverse die before full production approval, would never have entered circulation.

Brâncoveanu himself was executed in Constantinople in 1714 along with his four sons, refusing conversion to Islam.
