| Obverse description | Within the brass-plated steel centre, a stylised mythological bird (the Pasărea Măiastră, the Romanian equivalent of the Phoenix) is depicted in flight, rising toward radiating solar rays as an allegorical symbol of the revival of the national language and spiritual identity. The coat of arms of the Republic of Moldova appears in the upper field. Along the lower circumference of the nickel-plated steel ring, the circular legend reads: 30 DE ANI DE LA ADOPTAREA LEGILOR DESPRE LIMBA DE STAT ȘI GRAFIA LATINĂ (30 Years from the Adoption of the Laws on the State Language and Latin Script). |

Moldova's shift to a bimetallic 10 Lei coin in 2019 reflected ongoing efforts to rationalize a denomination that had long existed only as a banknote, reducing printing costs and improving durability in everyday commerce. The "state language" inscription addresses one of the country's most politically charged disputes: whether the national language should be designated Moldovan or Romanian — a debate that has split governments, prompted constitutional court rulings, and remains unresolved in the public consciousness despite a 2023 constitutional amendment formally adopting "Romanian."
