背面描述 The reverse presents a three-quarter facing portrait of Romanian writer Mateiu I. Caragiale, depicted with a moustache and wearing a formal jacket, rendered in fine frosted relief against a mirror-polished field. To the left of the portrait, a detailed architectural vignette depicts the ornate Gothic-inspired stonework of Curtea Veche (the Old Court), rendered with intricate engraving. Below the architectural element, the author's birth and death years '1885' and '1936' are inscribed in two lines. The facsimile signature 'M. I. Caragiale' appears in cursive script across the lower right field.

附加信息

Mateiu I. Caragiale — illegitimate son of the far more famous Ion Luca Caragiale — published only one novel in his lifetime, the decadent Craii de Curtea-Veche (1929), yet that single work secured his permanent place in Romanian letters. He spent decades on it, revising obsessively, and died in 1936 having written almost nothing else. The National Bank's commemorative program has repeatedly drawn from Romania's literary canon for its silver issues, and Mateiu's selection reflects a deliberate rehabilitation of a writer long overshadowed by his father's reputation.
