Part of the National Bank of Romania's ongoing "History of Gold" series, this issue commemorates a Wallachian buckle unearthed at Curtea de Argeş — the medieval capital of Wallachia and seat of its early ruling princes. The buckle itself predates the famous Curtea de Argeş monastery by centuries, placing it among the earliest evidence of refined goldsmithing in the region.
