Cecilia Cuțescu-Storck, born in 1879, was the first woman admitted to the Bucharest School of Fine Arts and later the first female professor at that institution — appointments that required specific regulatory changes to allow. She studied under Nicolae Vermont and subsequently in Paris, where her exposure to post-Impressionist currents shaped a career spanning murals, portraiture, and decorative arts across several decades of turbulent Romanian history.
