Reverse description A football player depicted in dynamic relief is shown executing a corner kick, his body in full stride with one leg raised in the act of striking the ball. A corner flag post rises vertically at centre-right, with the ball shown mid-flight toward a goal net visible in the right field; three smaller player figures are depicted in the background near the goal line. The legend WORLD OF FOOTBALL arcs along the upper periphery, and GERMANY 2006 is inscribed along the lower left, all set against a polished proof-like field.

Additional information

Malawi issued a series of football-themed coins ahead of the 2006 FIFA World Cup held in Germany, marketed primarily to overseas collectors rather than domestic circulation. The Reserve Bank was one of several small African central banks that licensed FIFA branding during this period as a revenue-generating exercise — the coins were legal tender in name only, priced well above face value from the moment of issue.
