Beschrijving voorzijde	The national coat of arms of Malawi occupies the central field, featuring a quartered shield with a rising sun and wavy bands, surmounted by a fish eagle displayed and flanked by a lion rampant to the left and a leopard rampant to the right as supporters. A scroll beneath the supporters bears the national motto UNITY AND FREEDOM. The legend REPUBLIC OF MALAWI arcs along the upper periphery, with the date 2005 divided across the lower field on either side of the arms, and the denomination 10 KWACHA inscribed along the lower rim.

Aanvullende informatie	Malawi's wildlife coinage of the early 2000s was aimed squarely at the collector market, with the chevrotain — a primitive, deer-like ruminant found across sub-Saharan Africa and Asia — chosen specifically for its obscurity. The water chevrotain is the only surviving Old World representative of the family Tragulidae, a lineage that has changed little in roughly 34 million years.
