The P#26 series spans nearly a decade, which is unusually long for a Zambian issue — the country went through substantial economic turbulence during the 1980s, including copper price collapses that gutted export revenue and drove inflation sharply upward. That the note remained in production across this period reflects chronic difficulty in reforming the currency rather than monetary stability.
Thomas De La Rue printed the series in London throughout, with only signature combinations changing to reflect successive Bank of Zambia governors and finance ministers. Collectors typically distinguish between signature pairs rather than treating the run as a single uniform type.
