Landsbanki Íslands relied on Danmarks Nationalbanks Seddeltrykeri for production throughout the interwar decades — a practical arrangement given Iceland's complete absence of domestic printing infrastructure, and one that continued even after the 1918 Act of Union granted Iceland full sovereignty in internal affairs while retaining the Danish crown. The note is named for Christian X, who remained Iceland's king under that dual-monarchy structure until 1944.
Gerhard Heilmann is better known as an ornithologist whose 1926 book *The Origin of Birds* sparked decades of paleontological debate. His banknote design work for Danish and Icelandic issues is rarely mentioned alongside that reputation.
