This piece is one of Sweden's commemorative issues marking the centenary of a major fire — the 1834 Vänersborg fire that destroyed much of the town, prompting a reconstruction that gave the city its unusually regular grid plan still visible today. Sweden's commemorative kronor program of this period was struck in relatively modest quantities and saw limited circulation, meaning most survivors are in mint or near-mint state simply by attrition of collector hoarding rather than any particular rarity at issue.
