Comments

Polaris Fabrikker A/S was a Norwegian industrial firm, and this note is a private emergency token — a nødpenge or company scrip — rather than a state issue. Such notes proliferated in Norway during the German occupation (1940–1945) when coin shortages became acute and firms began issuing their own small-denomination paper to manage payroll and internal transactions. Ingvald Dahle was a local printer in Sandnes, Rogaland, and the production quality reflects that provincial origin.

The NP (Nødpenge) catalog designation confirms its scrip classification. Survivors are scarce simply because most were redeemed within a closed economic loop and discarded.
