| 裏面の説明 | Central design depicts a stylised Arctic landscape within a circular frame, featuring angular glacier or iceberg formations in the foreground and a large orb — representing the aurora or polar sun — rising behind a jagged mountain silhouette in the background. A small polar star or cross is visible in the upper field within the orb. The legend POLARÅR 2007-2009 arcs around the upper periphery, commemorating the International Polar Year, while the denomination 10 KRONER is inscribed in the lower field. The geometric, modernist rendering of the polar scenery gives the reverse a bold graphic quality. |

The "Northern Light" reverse was part of Denmark's ongoing themed circulation series launched in the 2000s, which periodically refreshed 10-krone designs while retaining Margrethe II's fourth portrait — itself introduced in 2001 and sculpted by Gunvor Tvilling. The fourth portrait replaced the third after the Queen's 60th birthday, a standard practice for Danish coinage that tracks the monarch's age across decades of issue.
Aluminium bronze was adopted for the 10-krone denomination in 1989, chosen partly to distinguish it from the bimetallic experiments then circulating elsewhere in Europe.
