Opmerkingen

Grønlands Styrelse — the Danish colonial administrative body for Greenland — issued these notes as a distinct local currency, insulating the island's economy from mainland Danish circulation during and after the German occupation. The Type II designation distinguishes notes lacking the decorative guilloche pattern outside the frame border, a printing variation that occurred within the same series run at the Nationalbanken's Copenhagen works.

The 1945 start date is not incidental: the Allied liberation of Denmark reopened secure communication and supply lines to Greenland, which had spent the war years under informal American protection following the 1941 Defense Agreement.
