Comments

Grønlands Styrelse was a Danish colonial administrative body, and these notes were issued specifically for use in Greenland — not legal tender in Denmark itself. The three signature combinations reflect successive administrative appointments over the note's long production window, with Eske Brun serving as Governor of Greenland from 1941 onward under the unusual circumstances of Danish occupation by Germany, during which Greenland operated with considerable autonomy under American protection.

The "Type I" designation refers to the decorative pattern falling outside the printed frame — a detail that distinguishes it from later printings of the same denomination and is the primary basis for sub-classification within Pick 16.
