Bjørnøen A.S. was a Norwegian company that held a commercial concession on Bear Island — a remote Norwegian possession in the Barents Sea midway between Svalbard and the Norwegian mainland — and issued its own scrip for use among the small workforce stationed there. These notes functioned as company currency, redeemable only within the isolated settlement, and had no value beyond the island's operation.

The "r" suffix on the Pick reference denotes a remainder, which is the form most survivors take. Bear Island scrip of any type is genuinely scarce simply because the workforce was tiny and the concession short-lived.
