Obverse description Central shield bearing the quartered arms of the Archbishopric of Salzburg, displaying alternating lions rampant and towers, surmounted by a mitred and nimbed bust of Saint Rupert facing forward with hands raised in benediction, set within an arched architectural frame. The date 1575 appears in the upper left field, with the mintmaster's mark 'S' at lower left and 'R' at lower right flanking the shield base. A beaded inner border separates the central device from the surrounding circular Latin legend reading IO IAC D G AR EPS SAL AP S L S R, an abbreviation for Johann Jakob by the grace of God Archbishop of Salzburg, Apostolic Legate.
