Hieronymus von Colloredo, Prince-Archbishop of Salzburg from 1772, was among the most zealous ecclesiastical reformers of the Josephine era — closing monasteries, curtailing feast days, and imposing Enlightenment rationalism on a reluctant clergy. This 1782 piece marks the 12th jubilee of his ordination as bishop, a date counted from 1770. Colloredo is better remembered today as Mozart's employer and the man who formally dismissed him from Salzburg court service in 1781, just one year before this coin was struck.
Its pattern status (KM#Pn13) suggests it never entered circulation — likely a presentation striking for the jubilee occasion itself.
