Obverse description Bare-headed draped bust of Frederick Augustus, Duke of Nassau, facing right, with short curled hair. The circumferential legend reads FRIEDRICH AUGUST HERZOG ZU NASSAU, arranged around the periphery of the field. The portrait is rendered in a neoclassical style typical of early 19th-century German coinage.

Reverse description Central shield bearing the Nassau lion rampant to sinister, surmounted by a ducal crown. The date 1809 is divided by the shield on either side, with the denomination (10) displayed in parentheses below the shield.
