正面描述 Laureate and draped bust of Emperor Franz II facing right, set within an open wreath of two olive branches tied at the base, with the mint mark E positioned at the bottom of the wreath. The circular legend surrounding the wreath reads FRANC II D G R I S A / GERM HV BO REX, abbreviating his full imperial and royal titles in Latin. The portrait is rendered in a classical neoclassical style typical of late 18th-century Habsburg coinage, with fine drapery visible at the shoulder truncation. The field shows moderate die flow consistent with a circulated silver piece.

附加信息

Franz II assumed the imperial title in 1792, the same year this issue began — weeks after the execution of his aunt Marie Antoinette's closest allies and with revolutionary France already at war with Austria. The Habsburgs needed functioning coinage badly; the wars of the First Coalition were hemorrhaging treasury reserves at a pace that would eventually force repeated debasements across the silver series.

The .500 fineness here was itself a compromise, down from earlier Habsburg silver standards. By 1797, the Treaty of Campo Formio had ended the First Coalition on deeply unfavorable terms for Austria, and the monetary pressures that followed effectively closed out this type.
