背面描述 The Virgin Mary (Patrona Hungariae) is depicted enthroned on clouds in the central field, crowned and nimbed, holding the Christ Child on her left knee while her right hand is raised in a gesture of blessing. Both figures are surrounded by an elaborate radiant glory of long rays emanating outward. The denomination numeral '10' appears in the lower field beneath the central image. The circular legend, reading in Hungarian, runs along the periphery of the coin and is divided across the upper and lower portions of the design.

附加信息

The Hungarian Provisional Government authorized this issue in 1848 as the revolution against Habsburg rule gathered momentum under Kossuth's administration. Striking coins was a deliberate act of political assertion — Budapest was producing its own currency while Vienna still nominally claimed sovereignty over the kingdom.

The .500 fineness was a practical concession to wartime silver supplies, half the purity of peacetime Habsburg coinage. Hungarian forces held out until August 1849, when combined Austrian and Russian intervention crushed the uprising.
