The Vörös Ujság Beszerzési Csoport — the procurement arm of the Hungarian Soviet Republic's official newspaper — issued this note during the brief communist regime of 1919 as a form of internal scrip. It was not legal tender in any conventional sense; it functioned as a coupon or exchange token, likely used within the distribution network of the newspaper itself.
The Hungarian Soviet Republic lasted 133 days. Most ephemera from this period was actively suppressed after the White Terror that followed Béla Kun's fall in August 1919, which accounts for the genuine scarcity of surviving examples across the entire Ambrus II series.
