Additional information

Ukraine's first post-Soviet coinage was struck in 1992 under emergency contract at the Italian Istituto Poligrafico e Zecca dello Stato in Rome, which accounts for the absent mintmark — these were not produced at a domestic facility. The six-berry variety versus four-berry distinction on this denomination arose from minor hub differences between working dies prepared at the Italian facility, an unplanned variation that became the primary cataloguing split for the type.
