Obverse description The central field displays the Imperial Russian double-headed eagle with wings spread, each head surmounted by a small crown and the whole surmounted by a large Imperial crown with cross finial. On the breast of the eagle is an escutcheon bearing Saint George slaying the dragon. The talons clutch a bundle of thunderbolts and arrows on the left and a laurel branch on the right, with scrolling ribbons flanking below. The date 1830 appears in the lower exergue, followed by a stop, rendered in large serif numerals. The design is executed in bold relief against a smooth, unadorned field, enclosed by a raised rim with an inner border ring.
