Obverse description Crowned double-headed imperial eagle displayed in the centre of the field, its wings spread and detailed with fine feather engraving. The eagle bears on its breast a quartered shield with the arms of the Russian Empire. Below the eagle's wings, flanking the body, appear the mintmaster initials Ф and Г in Cyrillic characters. A single imperial crown surmounts the two heads, rendered in high relief. No peripheral legend is present; the design fills the planchet in a bold, classical Russian Empire style.
