Laos issued a series of foreign-themed commemoratives in the late 1980s aimed squarely at the Western collector market — revenue generation dressed as numismatics. The "Prussia Magnetic" designation distinguishes this from a nearly identical non-magnetic copper-nickel strike of the same type, a production inconsistency that suggests mixed alloy batches rather than any deliberate mint decision.
These were never intended for domestic circulation in a country where the kip's purchasing power made a 10-kip coin essentially symbolic.
