Opmerkingen

The Banque Nationale du Laos was established in 1954 following the Geneva Accords, and Thomas De La Rue supplied much of the fledgling institution's early currency throughout the 1960s and into the civil war period. This note's long issuance window — over a decade — reflects the monetary instability of the era, during which the Lao kip was repeatedly devalued and multiple parallel currency systems operated simultaneously across royalist, neutralist, and Pathet Lao-controlled territories.

De La Rue's single-watermark security was minimal by the printer's own standards, a cost concession common in lower-denomination issues for smaller client states.
