| Obverse description | The obverse features the national emblem of Papua New Guinea centrally placed in the field: a Raggiana Bird of Paradise with wings dramatically spread, perched above a traditional kundu drum, all rendered in high relief against a mirror-polished background. A horizontal bar divides the central device. The legend PAPUA NEW GUINEA arcs along the upper periphery, while ROYAL VISIT • 1982 curves along the lower periphery, both in raised Latin capitals. The design is framed by a finely executed beaded border. |

| Reverse description | The reverse presents a conjoined double portrait in left-facing profile of Queen Elizabeth II, wearing a diamond tiara and earrings, positioned in the foreground, alongside Prince Philip, depicted in formal attire, slightly behind and overlapping. The effigies, engraved by Michael Rizzello, are rendered with fine sculptural detail against a deeply frosted field. The denomination K10 appears in the left field in bold raised numerals. The design is enclosed within a beaded border consistent with the obverse. |
