备注	The Ukrainian People's Republic issued this note under conditions of near-constant military and political collapse. By 1919, the UPR government was fighting simultaneously against Bolshevik forces, the White Army, and Polish troops while losing and retaking Kyiv multiple times — the treasury that nominally backed these notes controlled little more than the territory underfoot at any given week. The karbovanets series of this period was produced in such quantity and under such disrupted conditions that serial numbering and watermark consistency vary considerably across surviving examples. Forgeries also circulated during the period itself, not just later.
