Ukraine has issued commemorative coins for every Summer Olympics since at least the 2000 Sydney Games, making this series more a scheduled obligation than a response to any particular national achievement. The 2020 Tokyo Games were themselves a year delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic — the first Olympic postponement in peacetime history — though the coins were struck bearing the original 2020 date regardless.
