| 背面描述 | Central design features a large five-pointed star rendered in a ribbon-style interlaced motif, within which the numeral 70 and the Cyrillic inscription РОКІВ (meaning 'years') are incused in the field. A laurel branch extends from the lower right of the star across the lower field, symbolising victory and commemoration. The circular legend ВИЗВОЛЕННЯ ХАРКОВА ВІД ФАШИСТСЬКИХ ЗАГАРБНИКІВ arcs along the upper and side periphery in Cyrillic characters. The year 1943, denoting the liberation of Kharkiv, is inscribed in the lower exergue beneath the central composition. |

Kharkiv was occupied by German forces twice during World War II — briefly retaken by Soviet troops in February 1943, then lost again weeks later in the Third Battle of Kharkov, one of the last major German offensive successes on the Eastern Front. The city was finally liberated in August 1943 during Operation Rumyantsev, after some of the most brutal urban fighting of the entire war. An estimated 70% of the city's industrial infrastructure had been deliberately destroyed before the Germans withdrew.
Ukraine issued this coin on the 70th anniversary of that liberation.
