| Beschrijving keerzijde | The reverse depicts a detailed architectural rendering of the facade of the Ivan Franko National Academic Drama Theater building in Kyiv, set within a square frame overlaid on a circular design element. Above the building, the legend 'АКАДЕМІЧНИЙ' arcs along the upper portion of the circle, while 'НАЦІОНАЛЬНИЙ' and 'ДРАМАТИЧНИЙ' are inscribed vertically along the left and right inner margins of the square frame respectively. The lower half of the circle contains the anniversary inscription '100 РОКІВ' (100 YEARS) displayed prominently against a contrasting dark background. Below the central composition, the inscription 'ТЕАТР ІМЕНІ ІВАНА ФРАНКА' is rendered in bold spaced lettering across the lower field. |

Issued to mark the centenary of the Ivan Franko National Academic Drama Theater in Kyiv, founded in 1920 during the brief but culturally explosive period of Ukrainization under the early Soviet state. The theater was established as part of a deliberate effort to legitimize Ukrainian-language culture — a policy that would be systematically reversed within a decade as Stalin's regime moved to suppress Ukrainian national institutions. The theater survived, but under drastically constrained conditions.
KM#986 belongs to Ukraine's long-running commemorative silver program, which has issued hundreds of collector pieces since the 1990s. Mintage for issues in this series typically ran in the low thousands.
