| Obverse description | The obverse features an ornamental border derived from the architectural capitals of 12th-century Halych stone churches, incorporating stylized figures of a bird and a lion — heraldic symbols of the cities of Halych and Lviv respectively. At centre, the Small National Emblem of Ukraine (trident) is prominently displayed within the decorated field. The legends УКРАЇНА and 10 ГРИВЕНЬ appear in Cyrillic, with the date 1998 and inscriptions denoting the precious metal composition, fineness, and coin weight arranged in four lines. The overall design reflects a distinctly medieval Rus' decorative aesthetic, engraved by Roman Chaikovskyi. |
