Obverse description The note is divided into three vertical panels by a decorative letterpress border. The left and right panels each carry the denomination numeral '10' set against a bold diagonal band, while the right panel is additionally surmounted by a cartouche enclosing crossed blacksmith's tools — hammer, tongs, and axe — emblematic of the local ironworking tradition. The central panel presents a woodcut-style landscape vignette of a valley settlement with a mill and Alpine forest backdrop, with the issuer inscription 'Marktgemeinde Ybbsitz 1920' in calligraphic typeface below.

Reverse description The reverse is framed by a continuous foliate letterpress border and arranged in three columns. The central panel carries an elaborate heraldic vignette of the Ybbsitzer Zeugschmiede (Ybbsitz armorers' guild) coat of arms, flanked by rampant lions on decorative plinths beneath a double-headed eagle, captioned 'Wappen der Ybbsitzer Zeugschmiede'. The flanking columns bear the redemption clause in Gothic script — the left noting the issue date and redemption terms, the right carrying a verse attesting to the purchasing power of Ybbsitz ironware — with the imprint 'IPM FST' and a serial number below the central vignette.

Ybbsitz is a small market town in Lower Austria historically associated with iron and steel craftwork — a trade that shaped its local economy long before the First World War disrupted it. This 10 Heller note is a piece of Austrian Notgeld, the emergency municipal scrip issued across Austria and Germany in enormous variety during the postwar currency crisis, when small-denomination coins effectively vanished from circulation. Thousands of municipalities issued their own, and Ybbsitz was one of them.

The Jaksch reference JPR1260-10 places it within the standard Lower Austrian Notgeld cataloguing. Collector demand for Austrian Notgeld varies sharply by issuing town and design series; Ybbsitz issues attract modest specialist interest.
