Opmerkingen

Wilhelmsburg is a small market town in Lower Austria, and this 10 Heller note is a product of the Notgeld wave that swept Austrian municipalities in the early postwar years — a period when the newly truncated republic was hemorrhaging coinage to hoarding and metal exports. Towns like Wilhelmsburg were effectively left to fend for themselves at the fractional end of the money supply. The Gutenberg press in nearby St. Pölten handled a considerable volume of this regional small-change paper, keeping costs down through proximity.

The JPR1235a designation places this within the Jaksc/Pick regional Notgeld reference, which documented hundreds of such issues across Lower Austria alone.
